Gambas Genie is a strategy engine being written for the Free Empires project. While the Stratagus engine is designed to be like Warcraft, Gambas Genie (abbreviated as GG) is made to be smiler to Ensemble Studios Genie engine that was used in Age of Empires and Age of Empires II. It has also being modified to be more like Zoo Tycoon and Sim-city for LinFarm. For Windows versions of Free Empires, Echelon Designs is porting GG to Windows using Visual Basic .Net. The Linux version is written in Gambas. Most of GG's code has been written by Graham Wilson however it is being developed openly and add ons and upgrades can be added by anyone. Currently it is available in the form of Free Empires Chiefs and Warriors Source Release 2.0.

Version 0.1
As show cased in Free Empires: Chiefs and Warriors Source Release 1.0. It included basic RTS features and objects
Version 0.2
As seen in FE: CaW SR 2.0. It expanded the number of objects and features GG can support.
Version 0.3
This is to be showcased in the upcoming FE: CaW. It is going to feature a change from QT rendering to SDL. It is also going to feature unit and building creation and true RTS walking and resource gathering. Some features from SR 2.0 may not be present in 3.0 but added again in 4.0. Three GG 0.3 tech demos are being developed and will eventually be released. These include: Unit Movement, Resource Gathering, and Technological Research. The SDL "Heart" of GG 0.3's development is being slowed down due to outside forces.

Linfarm is being made in the style of Zoo Tycoon and Sim-City. You control a farm and attempt to gain a profit.
