Piga Animator is an in development computer animation tool, being designed for Symel which is a free content Internet cartoon project of Piga Software programmer Graham L. Wilson. It is closely related to the latest developments for Gambas Genie 0.3 (so also Free Empires: Chiefs and Warriors Source Release 3), in the way that it draws objects. It's development officially began on August 19th 2008 CE inside Gambas 1.0.19 for GNU/Linux (being developed in Fedora Linux 8). Graham has also begun writing a Symel script that will be made with the new tool, its plot revolves around parody and fiction's many plot holes, the finished animation is going to be released under Malcolm Wilson Multimedia.

Features

The most important aspect of Piga Animator thus far is the "Directors Panel". From this the two primary actor objects (Actor Alpha and Actor Beta) may be manipulated; this includes movements, audio output, and specific sprite choices. There are some default sprite modifications based on actions (sprite direction, mouth opening, and so forth), though these may be turned off in the case that they may get in the way of the animators design. Several actions are going to be accessible in a sub-menu in the "Directors Panel" such as outreach, kick, shock, anger, and depression (the facial expressions will have their own sprites and are added atop of the current actor sprite). The current default character sprite set is that of the character Symel, though others from the Symel fictional universe will be present as character sets (as well as props from the cartoons).
